“Let’s chart a new path together”
- Running for every resident of Arcadia. Governments are elected by the people FOR the people
- Hearing the concerns raised by all residents of Arcadia
- Taking definitive positions on matters of concern.
- “No” to Arcadia’s construction of a new municipal/ multipurpose building (use existing assets)
- Propose a bylaw requiring public engagement on specified dollar amount projects/expenditures
- Propose measures to start the move to the Cambridge-Narrows building as soon as practicable
- Collaborate with council to move Arcadia forward, based on the will of the people
- Fiscal sensibility, keeping the struggles and needs of each and every resident in mind.
- Critical examination of future budgets, ensuring an accurate budget. No unnecessary spending
- Reduce / eliminate transfer of taxpayers’ dollars to reserves, unless absolutely necessary
- Address current debt in whatever way possible: take steps to preclude further debt
- “Needs versus wants”. Affordability leads to prosperity.
- “It’s your money, your budget”. Public consultation regarding forthcoming budgets and audits
- Chart a path to alleviate the tax burden on residents by reducing the mill rate in 2027
- Maintain / enhance recreation, culture and essential services
- Increased transparency (what is being done and what will be done with your tax dollars)
- Finding ways to get more information regarding operations to all residents (i.e. non digital)
- Move to stream meetings to YouTube to allow for viewing live, or at a later date
- Utilize “closed sessions” of council meetings only when required by legal/privacy concerns
- Open and “timely” communication with residents
- Lobby for medical services (doctors/NP’s) and support for our existing facilities
- Lobby Horizon / Province for enhanced services in Arcadia (additional funding/ infrastructure)
- Lobby for our rural schools and post offices - they are vital to the community
- Preserve our rural way of life, while enhancing economic development and tourism
- A different way of local governance: open and inclusive
